This notice explains what personal data this website collects, why it is collected, and how you can use your rights.

Who is responsible

Stephen McCormack is the controller of the personal data described here.

For anything about your data, write to ask@stephenmccormack.com.

Contact form

If you use the contact form, you send your name, your email address and your message. I use them only to read and reply to your enquiry.

Using the form is optional, but your name, email and message are needed to reply.

The legal basis is my legitimate interest in answering messages sent to me, and taking steps you ask for before any agreement (GDPR Articles 6(1)(f) and 6(1)(b)).

Netlify receives the form submissions. Messages are kept for up to 12 months, then deleted.

Netlify also records the sender's IP address with each submission, to protect against spam.

A hidden anti-spam field is part of the form. It is left empty by visitors.

Analytics and cookies

This site does not use analytics, advertising or tracking tools. It does not set cookies or store anything in your browser.

Hosting

Netlify hosts the site. Like other hosts, it processes technical data such as IP address and browser type in order to deliver pages and keep the service secure. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in running a secure website.

Who else handles data

Netlify, Inc. (United States) hosts the site and receives contact-form submissions, as a processor.

Netlify may transfer personal data to the United States. The transfers are covered by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and, where the provider is certified, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

I do not sell personal data or use it for advertising.

Your rights

You can ask for access to your data, for correction or deletion, for restriction, or to object to its use. You can ask for a portable copy.

Write to ask@stephenmccormack.com.

If you think your data has been mishandled, you can complain to the CNIL, the French data-protection authority. Its website explains how it handles complaints, and you can file a complaint there.

No automated decision-making or profiling is carried out about visitors.

Changes

If this notice changes, the date at the top will change. If analytics is ever added, this notice will be updated first, and nothing will be collected without your consent.
